Samsung SM B310E

Product Overview & Value Proposition

The Samsung SM B310E enters the mobile market as a specialized, utility-focused device designed for users who prioritize fundamental communication over modern multimedia complexity. In an era dominated by high-end smartphones, the SM B310E carves out a specific niche by offering a streamlined mobile experience centered on reliability and essential connectivity. This device is positioned as a dependable tool for individuals who require a secondary phone, a dedicated communication device for work environments, or a simplified handset for those who do not require the distractions of a high-performance computing platform.

The value proposition of the Samsung SM B310E lies in its simplicity. By stripping away the heavy processing requirements of modern operating systems, the device focuses on the core pillars of mobile telephony: voice calls and basic data connectivity. It is an ideal choice for users seeking a rugged, straightforward interface where the primary goal is staying connected via 2G networks. Its market placement is clearly defined within the feature phone segment, catering to a demographic that values battery longevity, ease of use, and the essential functions of a mobile handset without the overhead of complex applications or high-resolution photography.

Core Specifications & Architecture

The technical architecture of the Samsung SM B310E is built around the 2G network type, ensuring compatibility with standard cellular infrastructures globally. While it lacks the high-speed capabilities of 4G or 5G, it provides a stable foundation for voice and text-based communication. The device incorporates 3G connectivity capabilities, specifically noting a 3G speed of 5.76, which provides a layer of data utility beyond basic 2G limitations.

At the heart of its connectivity suite is a Bluetooth version 2.0 implementation, allowing for wireless peripheral integration and data exchange within the standards of its era. For wired data transfer and charging, the device utilizes a Micro USB port (version 100), a standard and widely recognized interface. The inclusion of a 3.1 audio jack ensures that users can connect standard wired headphones for private listening or hands-free communication.

The internal power management is driven by an 800 mAh LION battery. This lithium-ion technology is optimized for the device's low-power consumption requirements. While the capacity is modest by smartphone standards, it is architecturally matched to the device's minimal hardware demands, aiming to provide consistent performance throughout the day. The device does not support dual battery configurations, focusing instead on a single, integrated power source.

Connectivity and Data Standards

The Samsung SM B310E offers a specific set of data protocols to facilitate basic internet tasks. It includes a pre-installed WAP browser, which is the standard for accessing lightweight, text-heavy web content. The data capabilities are further defined by the following technical metrics:

• Network Type: 2G
• 3G Support: Yes (5.76 speed)
• GPRS Features: 48 KBPS
• Edge Features: CLASS 6 177.6
• Bluetooth: Version 2.0
• Internet Access: WAP Browser

Performance, Usability & Everyday Experience

In real-world scenarios, the Samsung SM B310E is designed to perform predictably. The user experience is centered heavily on voice communication. The device supports essential call features such as call wait/hold and hands-free operation, which are critical for maintaining productivity during conversations. The inclusion of a speaker phone function further enhances usability, allowing for audible communication without the need for a headset in private settings.

The performance of the device is optimized for voice clarity and call stability rather than data throughput. While the 48 KBPS GPRS and WAP browser allow for very basic information retrieval, users should expect a slow, text-based experience when navigating the web. This device is not intended for heavy web browsing, social media, or video streaming; rather, it serves as a reliable conduit for voice calls and essential connectivity.

The 36-minute talk time metric provided in the specifications suggests a specific operational window for continuous voice usage. Users will find that the interface is stripped of unnecessary complexities, making the device highly accessible for those who prefer a "no-frills" approach to mobile technology. The absence of a complex phone book or advanced call logs means that the user interaction is direct and focused on the immediate task of calling or receiving calls.

Design, Build Quality & Efficiency

The design philosophy of the Samsung SM B310E is one of functional minimalism. Because the device lacks a primary camera (listed as 0MP) and a secondary front camera (also 0MP), the physical footprint is not burdened by large camera modules or complex lens arrays. This allows for a compact and potentially more durable chassis that is less susceptible to the damage often associated with glass-heavy smartphone designs.

Efficiency is a core component of the SM B310E's design. The 800 mAh LION battery works in tandem with the 2G/3G architecture to ensure that power is not wasted on high-refresh-rate screens or intensive background processes. This makes the device highly efficient for long-term standby and essential communication tasks. The build is focused on the essentials: a reliable interface for calls, a Micro USB port for power, and a 3.1 audio jack for sound.

The physical dimensions and weight are not explicitly detailed, but the lack of heavy components like high-resolution displays, large camera sensors, or massive batteries suggests a lightweight and highly portable form factor. This makes it an excellent candidate for users who need a device that can be easily carried in a pocket or used in environments where a bulky smartphone would be impractical or unsafe.
