Ultimus APEX Intel Celeron 4mm Thin Bezel 180 Degree Hinge NU14U7INC56BN CS

The Ultimus APEX (Model: NU14U7INC56BN CS) enters the portable computing market as a highly specialized device tailored for users who prioritize mobility, visual clarity, and streamlined efficiency. Positioned as a versatile tool for everyday use, learning, and travel, this 14.1-inch laptop balances a lightweight chassis with a robust set of modern connectivity standards. By focusing on a "Modern & Minimalistic Design," the Ultimus APEX targets students, remote professionals, and casual users who require a reliable machine for processing, multitasking, and entertainment without the bulk of traditional workstations.

In a market often divided between heavy-duty performance machines and ultra-budget netbooks, the APEX occupies a unique middle ground. It leverages an Intel Celeron architecture paired with high-speed memory and storage to ensure that essential tasks—from web browsing and document editing to video conferencing—are handled with fluidity. Its value proposition lies in its ability to provide a premium visual experience through a Full HD IPS display while maintaining a highly portable form factor that weighs only 1.25 kg.

Core Specifications & Architecture

At the heart of the Ultimus APEX is the Intel Celeron Dual Core CPU, a processor designed for energy efficiency and reliable daily performance. This chip features 2 cores and 4 threads, allowing for improved multitasking capabilities compared to standard dual-core configurations. With a turbo frequency reaching up to 2.8 GHz and a 4MB Smart Cache, the processor is optimized to handle various background processes while maintaining responsiveness during active user tasks. The architecture is supported by Intel UHD Graphics, ensuring smooth visual rendering for standard media and interface animations.

Memory and storage configurations are a standout feature of this model, addressing one of the most common bottlenecks in entry-level computing. The device is equipped with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, providing the necessary bandwidth for multitasking across multiple browser tabs and applications. For storage, the APEX utilizes a 512GB Ultra-fast SSD, which significantly reduces boot times and application loading speeds. Crucially, the system offers scalability, as the storage is upgradeable up to 1TB, allowing users to expand their capacity as their digital library grows.

Security and system integrity are managed through specialized hardware and software. The inclusion of Intel Control-Flow Enforcement Technology provides a layer of hardware-level protection against certain types of code-reuse attacks, enhancing the overall security posture of the device. Furthermore, the system comes with comprehensive antivirus protection and pre-loaded Windows apps, ensuring the device is ready for immediate use upon unboxing. The system also includes recovery options to assist users in maintaining software health over time.

Performance, Usability & Everyday Experience

The real-world utility of the Ultimus APEX is defined by its ability to facilitate seamless communication and productivity. For users engaged in remote work or online learning, the hardware suite is well-prepared. The device features an HD Webcam positioned at a top angle for better eye contact during video calls, complemented by Dual Microphones designed to capture clear audio. This is further supported by Intel Smart Sound Technology and Intel High Definition Audio, which work in tandem to provide a refined acoustic experience.

Multitasking is made efficient through the combination of the 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and the 512GB SSD. Whether the user is managing spreadsheets, streaming high-definition content, or participating in a video conference, the 4-thread architecture helps prevent the stuttering often associated with dual-core processors. The Multi-Touch Trackpad provides an intuitive navigation experience, mimicking the gestures found on higher-end consumer electronics, which enhances usability when a mouse is not available.

Connectivity is another area where the APEX excels in everyday scenarios. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0, ensuring stable wireless connections for peripherals and internet access. For those requiring wired connections, it offers Ethernet via a connector and a variety of ports, including two USB 3.0 ports and a Mini HDMI port for external displays. The inclusion of a MicroSD/TF Card Slot (supporting up to 512 GB) provides an easy way to expand storage for media files, making it an excellent companion for entertainment-focused users.

Design, Build Quality & Efficiency

The physical design of the Ultimus APEX is a masterclass in modern minimalism. The chassis is finished in a sleek Silver color, presenting a professional and contemporary aesthetic. One of its most striking design elements is the 4mm ultra-narrow bezel, which maximizes the screen-to-body ratio and provides an immersive viewing experience. The display is a 14.1-inch Full HD IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. With a 178-degree wide viewing angle and a brightness of 300 Nits, the screen remains clear and vibrant even when viewed from the side.

Durability is addressed through clever engineering, specifically the 180-degree hinge. This allows the laptop to be laid almost flat, reducing the risk of hinge snapping during frequent opening and closing cycles and making it easier to share content on a desk. Despite its robust build, the device remains incredibly portable, weighing only 1.25 kg and maintaining a slim profile of 1.8cm in thickness. Its dimensions of 32cm x 20.8cm make it easy to slip into a backpack or messenger bag.

Efficiency is a core component of the APEX's design philosophy. The 2-cell battery is engineered to provide up to 8 hours of battery backup, making it suitable for long sessions in cafes, libraries, or during travel. To protect user wellness during extended use, the display includes a blue light filter for low-light environments and an anti-glare coating to minimize reflections. The Chicklet keyboard offers a clean typing experience, though it is important to note that this specific model does not feature a backlit keyboard.
