EXPERT REVIEW OF SPICE DREAM UNO MI-498

Google has finally launched the first set of Android One smartphones in collaboration with three Indian vendors - Spice, Karbonn and Micromax. There is not much difference in internals and processor of phones but their is definitely a change in look and feel of smartphones. Spice comes with its first Android One smartphone in India with Google and is only listed at Flipkart by the name Spice Dream Uno . It was earlier called Mi-498 and was priced at 6999 at Flipkart but now that listing has been called off. It is now affordably priced at Rs. 6,299 and supports Android 4.4 (Kitkat) operating system with guaranteed updates. Its specifications are similar to the Micromax Canvas One and Spice Dream Uno, but only the design and the dimensions of the smartphone are different.

Internals and Processor:

Spice Dream Uno is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) Android smartphone and runs on Android v4.4 (kitkat) Operating System . The device is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor (MediaTek 6582) , Mali-400MP graphics, along with 1 GB RAM, thus offering great and smooth processing experience.

Display and Storage:

Spice Dream Uno is slim ( only 10.4 mm thick) and light in weight. It features a 4.5 inches capacitative LCD touch-screen display with resolution of 480x854 pixels. Touch is smooth, display is clear, sharp and bright and provides great viewing angles. It also supports FWVGA IPS Display, Gesture Support for sharper and crispier images with 16M colours. The phone supports 4 GB internal memory, which is quite less, and has an expandable memory option upto 32 GB using micro SD card. Out of 4GB, 2.27GB is available to the user for storing documents or various applications.

Camera:

Spice Dream Uno has an 5 MP rear camera with LED Flash and features like Geo-tagging, face detection, smile detection, panaroma shots and autofocus. It's front camera also has the ability to shoot full HD videos. It also has a 2 MP secondary camera which is useful for video calling, video conferencing. The camera gives good picture quality in day settings, full HD recording, panorama and other modes for regular photography. We can also can shoot images while recording videos.

Battery:

Spice Dream Uno phone comes with 1700 mAh battery which provides fairly good enough 10 hours of talktime and up to 160 hours of standby time, claimed by the company. It provides various connectivity options like Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, wi-fi hotspot, USB port , and GPS/AGPS. It also supports 3.5mm audio jack and FM radio. It has various sensors like Proximity sensor , Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass/ Magnetometer.

Spice Dream Uno is a reasonably priced smartphone by Spice with powerful processor and latest Android One OS. The device is priced at Rs. 6,299. It is exclusively available for purchase from Flipkart.
