Samsung Galaxy A7 Vs A5 2016 : Comparison

Early this month Samsung had launched its next-gen Galaxy A5 and A7 smartphones (2016 edition) for the Indian market priced at Rs 29,400 and Rs 33,400 respectively. In the current scenario when competitors like Motorola, Xiaomi, Asus, OnePlus are offering the phones with similar specs and features at much lesser price range, new Galaxy phones appear to be slightly expensive. Let us figure out whether they justify their hefty price tags.

Galaxy A5 (2016) and A7 (2016) differ from each other majorly on three fronts - size (and apparently, weight), RAM, and battery. The new Galaxy A5 and A7 are designed on the lines of its flagship Galaxy S6 smartphone, encased in a metal body with a glass at the back.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) flaunts a 5.5-inch Super-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080x1920 pixels (401 ppi pixel density), powered by a 1.6 Ghz Exynos 7580 Snapdragon 615 processor. The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and comes with 16GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card), 3GB RAM and a non-removable Li-Ion 3300mAh battery. On the camera front, it features a 13MP main camera with f/1.9, autofocus, OIS and LED flash along with a 5MP front facing camera.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (having 424 ppi pixel density). It is powered by the 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 SoC octa-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. Running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, it includes an internal storage of 16GB which has an expandable option upto 128GB via microSD card and has non-removable Li-Ion polymer 2900mAh battery. It is equipped with a 13 MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, OIS, autofocus and LED flash along with a 5MP front facing camera.

Both the devices have same FHD Super AMOLED display but slightly differ in terms of screen size. They deliver great displays with enhanced colours and excellent viewing angles. They are available in multiple colour options- Gold, Black, and White. Also, Samsung plans to roll out Marshmallow update soon for the new Galaxy phones.
