Body
September is going to be a really exciting month for the smartphone segment as few of the smart devices are expected to be unveiled and launched this month. All major announcements are slated for this month including the new iPhones and the Galaxy Note 3. The phablet segment specifically will see a lots of options while we may also witness some redefining of the budget segment with the budget iPhone. So without further discussions, here are some hot upcoming smartphone launches to look out for :
1. iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S rumors, leaks and experts descriptions have converged to paint a picture of a new iPhone that may look similar to the iPhone 5, but with lot of new features and upgrades so that Apple is able to convince users to switch from Android. Apple will be holding an event on 10 September to launch the new iPhone.
It would probably be on par with the iPhone 5 in terms of specs, but will be wildly cheaper. This model will probably replace the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S which have proven to be immensely popular in developing markets like India. It will incorporate features like quad-core processor, an NFC reader, a Fingerprint Reader, new 12-13 MP backside camera with dual LED flash and a high-powered battery. It is rumored that the maps of iPhone 5S may have a night mode to support Ambient light sensor. This device will run on the new iOS 7 platform , recently launched by Apple.Apart from vanilla white and black shades, Apple plans to launch the iPhone 5S in gold.
2. iPhone 5C
The iPhone 5S will also reportedly come alongside a budget iPhone 5C with a colorful plastic finish and a cheap off contract price that could help Apple earn new customers in emerging markets like China and hopefully India too. However, it is believed that to cut down the cost, Apple has built the 5C using plastic or polycarbonate instead of anodized aluminium or metal. Apple might go for colourful options for iPhone5C in several shades including red, blue, yellow, white and black, so that buyer's interest is maintained. The iPhone 5C will get a 4-inch display just like the iPhone 5 but the resolution may not be higher than 640 x 1136 pixels. On the camera front, it is expected to have 8MP megapixel camera with an LED flash. To keep the manufacturing cost low, Apple have made few changes and have dropped certain features. iPhone 5C will likely run on the older A5 chipset. The device will run on the latest iOS 7, but Apple may drop certain features like AirDrop or photo filters - which are the key highlights of iOS 7. The device will be competing with low-cost Android and Windows Phone smartphones in China and India, and it would come in price range between $230 and $300 (Rs 12,000 and Rs 16,000 approx).
