Vivo V11 Pro Review : Should you buy it?
The latest flagship device launched by Vivo, Vivo V11 Pro is the first V series phone to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. It has a bigger display and will definitely face stiff competition from Oppo’s recently launched Oppo F9 Pro. It is available in two colour options – starry night and dazzling gold.
Design & Display
In terms of look and design, it looks quite similar to its predecessor Vivo V9. Both of the devices have an all-plastic body and the buttons, SIM tray, ports and the rear camera module are placed identically. V11 pro sports a gigantic 6.41 inch (16.29 cm) Super AMOLED full view FHD+ display with 1,080 x 2,280 pixels resolution, 400 ppi pixel density offering sharper images, rich colour reproduction and an amazing viewing experience to the users. It comes with a 91.27% screen-to-body ratio with thin side bezels (1.76 mm) which is even better than Apple iPhone X. It is sleek with nice curved edges and having dimensions of 157.9 mm x 75 mm x 7.9 mm and weighing only 156 gms. It is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 against any minor scratches or mishaps. Being made up of polycarbonate makes it very light in weight, unlike other phones which are made up of metal or plastic. Unlike Vivo V9 which was launched 6 months back, it does not have a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the screen. For additional safety, it also has face unlock and fingerprint authentication.
Hardware & Processor
In terms of hardware configuration, it is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM which offers lag-free multi-tasking and 64GB ROM (which can be expanded up to 256GB) which ensures that you never run out of space. For gaming and other graphical needs, it is equipped with an Adreno 512 graphics processor. It boots on the FunTouch OS 4.5 customised on Android 8.1 operating system. Vivo’s FunTouch OS UI offers additional functionality including smooth navigation, app privacy, duplicate apps, gesture shortcuts etc.
Camera Performance
The device is equipped with 25 MP front facing camera and dual rear camera (12MP+5MP) with f/1.8 aperture lens which enables you to click some breathtaking clicks with a lot of ease. The picture quality is crisp and clear in all types of light conditions though auto AI Backlight HDR is an absolute delight and balances the exposure of dark and bright areas pretty well. Besides this, the phone also has in-built filters such as AI face shaping and Beauty mode installed on the phone's own edit app. It does not support Optical stabilization but its PDAF feature helps it to focus well on the objects.
Battery & Connectivity
This phone derives its power from 3400mAH battery which ensures that the user has enough power to perform everyday tasks and little gaming with utmost sincerity and perfection. It provides uninterrupted working for almost a day on regular usage, though the heavy camera usage drains the battery very quickly. It supports fast charging which charges the device very fast, almost similar to that of OnePlus flagship devices. In terms of connectivity, it features dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, USB-OTG, GPS, Mobile Hotspot, FM radio but lacks NFC. While using GPS or downloading any apps, we did not face any heating issues or lags while performing. The sensors included are an ambient light sensor, virtual gyroscope, proximity sensor and a compass. The latest Vivo's Funtouch OS is user-friendly and has a smart launcher which shows you calendar events, weather, a step counter and shortcuts for your favourite apps. The pre-installed apps include NewsPoint, UC Browser, social media apps and WPS Office.
