Apple increases Prices of iPhones post Budget
Apple iPhone buyers are not happy as the iPhone prices have been increased for the second time in last two months. The first hike was in December last year when the government increased the import duty from 10% to 15%. In the current Union budget 2018-2019, the custom duty has been further hiked to 20% from 15% in order to promote "Make in India" initiative. Apple has increased the prices of all iPhone models including iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 by an average margin of 3% except the iPhone SE because the iPhone SE is currently made in India and is the only device from Cupertino based tech giant which is not imported. The 32GB variant of the iPhone SE costs Rs. 20,499 while the 128GB variant is still available for Rs 28,000. The Apple Watch models have also witnessed the surge in prices by around 8-9%.
iPhone X :
iPhone X which was launched at Rs 89,000 for 64GB internal storage variant, is now available at Rs 95,390. Its 256GB storage variant will now be priced at Rs 1,08,930 from initial price of Rs 1,02,000. It is the most expensive Apple iPhone till date and is equiped with high-end features like bezel-less 5.8-inch display, fast and powerful A11 Bionic chipset, Face ID and dual 12MP rear camera.
iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 :
The iPhone 8 range of models have also experienced a price hike. The iPhone 8 Plus 64GB model which was earlier priced at Rs. 75,450 is now Rs. 77,560. Similarly, the 256GB storage variant has raised its MRP from Rs. 88,750 to Rs. 91,110. The iPhone 8 with 64GB storage will now start at Rs 67,940 in India up from the Rs 66,120 price it had in December 2017. The 256GB variant has gone up to Rs 81,500 from its previous cost of Rs. 79,420. Both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come with A11 Bionic chipset, 64GB ROM, 12MP+7MP camera but iPhone 8 Plus has bigger 5.5-inch display.
iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 :
The iPhone 7 32GB had a price of Rs. 50,810 which has been increased by around Rs 1500 (i.e, 3.2% increase) and has now gone up to Rs. 52,370. The 128GB model of the iPhone 7 is now available for Rs. 61,560 from the original price of Rs. 59,910. The larger iPhone 7 Plus has hiked its price from Rs. 61,060 to Rs. 62,840 for the 32 GB model and from Rs. 70,180 price increased to Rs.72,060 for the 128GB model. Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are equipped with similar specifications like Apple A10 Fusion chipset, 32GB/128GB ROM, 12MP+7MP camera except that iPhone 7 Plus has bigger 5.5-inch display instead of 4.7-inch screen of iPhone 7.
iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s & iPhone 6 :
Like all other iPhone models, prices of iPhone 6 variants- iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have also been increased by approx 3%. The 32GB iPhone 6s Plus has gone up to Rs 52,240 from Rs. 50,740. The smaller iPhone 6s has gone up from Rs. 50,660 to Rs. 52,100 for the 128GB variant, while the 32GB model has gone up from Rs. 41,550 to Rs. 42,900. There is slight change in the price of iPhone 6 as well previously priced at Rs. 30,780 to a new price tag of Rs. 31,900. Both iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus come with same features like Apple A9 Fusion chipset along with M9 motion co-processor, 16GB/32GB ROM, 12MP+5MP camera except that iPhone 6s Plus has bigger 5.5-inch display instead of 4.7-inch screen of iPhone 6s.
Apple Watch Series 3 GPS :
This watch is available in two sizes- 38mm and 42mm. The smaller variant (38mm) now comes with the new price of Rs. 32,380 as compared to the previous Rs. 29,900. Similarly, the Apple Watch Series 3 GPS (42mm) price has gone up from Rs. 31,900 to Rs. 34,410.
